I’d spent a lifetime becoming a mirror that just reflected back the person others wanted to see, but she didn’t want anything. So I was nothing.– Cristin Terrill, Here Lies Daniel Tate
Author of the novel All Our Yesterdays comes a mystery thriller novel Here Lies Daniel Tate by Cristin Terrill.
This novel features Daniel Tate, at ten years old he goes missing without a trace. Six years later, he resurfaces on a snowy street in Vancouver, older, and different. His family, ecstatic brings him home to a world of wealthy and comfort. It’s a miracle, but there’s one thing that doesn’t sit right with him: He isn’t Daniel Tate. He is actually a con artist who accidentally stumbled into their lives and soon realizes he’s not the only one in the Tate household with a secret. The family has many secrets and one of them is ready to go as far as killing to keep the worst secret from getting out.
Not only does the cover catch your eye, but so does the plot. A ten-year-old that goes missing only to show up six years later, and then to find out that he’s actually a con artist that stumbled into the lives of the Tate household; talk about interesting! The cover and plot will get you hooked but it’s the story that will make you want to keep reading from beginning to end. The twist at the end of the story is one that you would not see coming from a mile away. I usually try to piece the puzzle together and create my own theories before I finish the book and you will be doing the same as soon as you pick this book up.
The writing is seamless, very organized, and easy to tell who is talking to who. At first, you’ll love the characters. Once you get to the middle/end of the book however, you will find yourself wishing you didn’t. The characters aren’t linear. Their complex and different from most characters you read in a novel. In my opinion, you will be on the edge of your seat as you read this novel until the very end.
If you enjoyed All Our Yesterdays, you would certainly enjoy Here Lies Daniel Tate, a novel that brings out the detective in all of us.
Recommended for those who are a fan of Cristin Terrill or want to read a story of mystery and thrills.
